Maggie Hall, age 95 of Estill Springs, passed away on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. A native of Franklin County, she was born on January 3, 1930, to the late Alevi Alexander and Annie Mai (Lowhorn) Lightfoot. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, as well as a hardworking homemaker, and her primary concern was her husband, children, and grandchildren. With her husband, together they owned and operated Crestwood Nursing Home in Manchester from 1968 to 1995. Maggie dearly loved and cared for the residents, making Crestwood a happy home for fifty-nine individuals, ensuring that each person received the quality care that they deserved. Besides working hard, she was an avid deer and turkey hunter, earning from her children the nickname, “Dead Eye, and enjoyed sharing her many entertaining hunting stories. In 2013, she was inducted into the National Wild Turkey Federation Hall of Fame by the Bedford County Longbeards. Maggie enjoyed doing her own yard work, sewing, crochet, and embroidery. Besides being a busy widow after retirement, her greatest joy was tending and teaching her grandchildren. Most importantly, Maggie loved the Lord. She attended Boulevard Church of Christ in Winchester, and she strove to teach all her children and grandchildren about Jesus and the importance of being a Christian and living a Christian life. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Leon Hall; step-mother, Olivia Lightfoot; mother-in-law, Ela Tipps Layman; sister, Mary Etta Lightfoot; brothers, Johnnie (Eloise) Lightfoot, and Doug (Dot) Lightfoot; nephews, Arthur Lightfoot, Steven Lightfoot, Christopher Lightfoot, and Johnnie Lightfoot Jr; sister-in-law, Betty Lightfoot; sons-in-law, Larry White, Steve Foster, and Brent Foster; and twin-granddaughters, Olivia Michelle Foster and Rachel Emily Foster. Maggie is survived by her loving daughters, Carlene White, Debbie Foster, and Dixie (Greg) Gilliam; grandchildren, Delana White (Jerry Freeman), Deborah (Brad) Bradford, Melina (Dakota) Arnold; great-grandchildren, Larren (Braxton) Griffy, Brianna (Josh) Masingill, John Thomas Griffy, Dixon Griffy, Dixie Gilliam, Xander Pogue, Chase (Taylor) Bradford, and Blake Bradford; great-great-grandchildren, Finn Norton, and Malachi Griffy; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 4-8pm on Thursday, February 6, 2025, at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, February 7, 2025, in the Chapel of Moore-Cortner Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with Dakota Arnold, Robert Bradford, John Hill, Lee Burks, Tyler Gilliam, Josh Marshall, Charlie Harris, and Brian Painter serving as pallbearers.
