Mr. Lucien E. (Bud) Puckett, age 93, of Bolivar, departed this life Sunday evening, May 31, 2015 at Methodist LeBonheur Germantown Hospital.
The husband of Margaret Price Puckett, whom he married on January 30, 1948, he was retired as a Lt. Commander in the US Navy, serving in World War II and Korea as a pharmacist. He was born August 13, 1921, in Danville, Alabama, son of the late Rube E. and Mattie Kirby Puckett and lived on several naval bases throughout the United States, moving back to Bolivar in 1970 after his military retirement to work as a pharmacist for Western Mental Health Institute. He retired from there in 1985 and began working part time for Hudson Drug Store. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Bolivar and his family states that he dearly loved God. He was a member of Bolivar Country Club, where he enjoyed a good round of golf. Mr. Puckett enjoyed life, loved to tell jokes, enjoyed people and his work.
Left to mourn his passing are his family whom he loved; his wife, Margaret Price Puckett; a son, Mark Puckett of Germantown; a sister and her husband, Ann (Quitman) Henderson of Decatur, Alabama; and two grandchildren, Angela Puckett Cooper and David Edward Puckett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 7 brothers, Jack, Elmer, J.D., Clifford, John, Bob and Frank Puckett; and a sister, Lazelle P. Henderson. The family requests memorial donations in Mr. Puckett’s name be made to St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
