She is survived by her son, Bryson; her parents, William Liston and Rosemary Coggins; her sisters, Tracy Hill and husband, Frank, and Amy Murray and husband, Jeremy; her nieces, Lexie and Brinley Murray; and her grandmother, Annie Lou Coggins.

Pallbearers will be Frank Hill, Jeremy Murray, Jamie Reid, Andy Keener, Brandon Gann, and Harold Fisher.

Lea worked at Just Kids Daycare where she had a wonderful friendship with her boss, Lib Grissom, and her husband, Jerry. She spent her days loving on every child that came through her class. She invested her life in those children and enjoyed every moment of it. She enjoyed the constant friendship of Tammy Johnson and family and Ammie Staggs. Lea was a lifetime member of Eastside Missionary Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was an amazing mommy to her son, Bryson. Her every thought began and ended with him. According to Bryson, she was “the bestest mommy in the whole wide world.”

During her cancer journey, she was obedient to God’s will and shared her testimony with everyone she came into contact with. She and her family have a great appreciation for everyone involved in her care. Lea’s medical care family included Dr. Patel, Dr. Hagler, Dr. Daugherty, Kim, Teena, Amy, Jamie, Jen, Daphne, Sharon, Leticia, Cindy, Kelly, and Charlotte. Thank you all for two-and-a-half years of love, encouragement, and friendship. You all will forever have a special place in our hearts.

According to Lea’s wishes, in lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Lea Coggins Memorial fund at Listerhill Credit Union to benefit the love of her life, her 6 year old son, Bryson.
