Kathy Sue Horton Anderton of Columbus City passed away on December 26th, 2022 after a 5 year battle with breast cancer at Marshall Medical Center North.
Kathy was born September 07, 1951, to Naomi Perkins Horton and Early Pink Horton or Arab. Kathy was known as a devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend to anyone she ever met, and she would stop and talk to everyone, especially ones at the cancer center, and encourage them to keep fighting the race.
Kathy attended Grassy school and later completed her GED and collage courses for her job at HD Lee where she was employed as an instructor for 23 years. Kathy was also employed at Reids Restaurant, Champion, and Teledyne in Grant for 16 years before retiring due to her illness.
Kathy loved her Alabama football games, spending time with family and friends, love attending her grandkids games, and cheering them on at anytime they were doing she would always try to be there in the stands.
Kathy loved meeting people that were at the Cancer Center for treatments and always encouraging them to keep fighting no matter what stage they were in, she was an inspiration to so many she spoke to along her journey and would always tell her story to help others cope with their battles. Kathy was a warrior and fighter to so many that were looking for help, she would be there.
Kathy is survived by her husband of 57 years Robert M. Anderton, Son James (Brandy) Anderton, Daughter Alicia (Mark) Leigeber, Grandson James Hunter (Odeena) Anderton, Step Grandson Brian Shouse, Granddaughters Shyanna Anderton, Karlee Whitley Step granddaughter Kaitlyn (BJ) Hayes, Great grandsons Ledger Anderton, Dawson Flick, Kade Flick and Aiden Benson, and Great granddaughter Adalyn Benson. Sisters Linda Horton, Linda (Early) Horton, Pat (Donald) Saint, Martha (Larry) Pendergrass, Sara (Denise) McWhorter, Brothers John Horton, Joe (Kristy) Roberts. Special Friend Billy Pounds and many nieces , nephews and friends.
Preceded in death Parents Naomi Roberts, Early Horton, Brothers Early (Junior) Horton, Donnie Roberts and special friend Hazel Pounds.
The family would like to thank Marshall Cancer center and staff, and Lakeside Clinic and staff for all the assistance that was given through this battle.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 03,2022 at Guntersville Memorial chapel from 1:00pm until 2:00pm with a Memorial Service following at 2:00pm
