Karen Anne Gardner Casey, age 62, went home to the Lord on Friday, January 27, 2023. She was born in Huntsville, AL to Bennie R. Gardner and Joyce Cowley Gardner, who preceded her in death. She spent her entire 35-year career at Huntsville Hospital where she was also born. She started her a career as a phlebotomist then became a nurse, spending many years in the Cardiac Intensive Care unit, and later returned to school and became a Certified Nurse Anesthetist working in Labor and Delivery.
Survivors include two children, James D. Casey and Jason P. Casey (Grace); four grandchildren, Zoe, Jackson, Jillian and Bennie; siblings, Stan Gardner (Loretta) and Kandy Gardner Harris (Keith); niece, Lindsay Smith (Josh Fleming); and nephew, Luke Harris (Stephanie).
Karen had many loves, starting with her family and extending to her work and the vast network of friends. She loved music, was an accomplished guitarist and wrote many songs. She had a great love for the Lord and sharing the word.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 3, 2023, at 11:30 at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, 2320 Bob Wallace Avenue, SW, Huntsville, AL. Burial in Maple Hill Cemetery will follow. The Casey Family will greet friends at Laughlin from 10:30-11:30 prior to the service.
