Notice for Johnny C Adams

Johnny C. Adams, known as Wad, Pops, and Mr. Gum Man, age 66, passed away on April 15, 2026, at North Mississippi Medical Center due to complications to a work accident. Johnny was born on February 27, 1960, in Red Bay, Alabama to Bruce Adams and Dessie Johnson Adams. He was employed at MDOT in Fulton, Mississippi. He is a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church where he is known as Mr. Gum Man by all of the kids. He was a graduate of Tremont High School of 1979. He enjoyed Nascar, hunting, hanging with the Sunday Crew at his brother Roy’s house to watch Nascar, his grandkids, and a host of other kids that he claimed as his own, though not all were related by blood, he loved them as his own, and they loved him just as deeply in return.

Services will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 17, at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Fulton, MS, with Bro. Tim Holsonback, Bro. Jackie Gray, and Bro. Bill Adams officiating. Visitation will be Friday from noon until service time at the church. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church Cemetery. McNeece Morris Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife, Gail C. Adams; his sons, Carson (Stephanie Whitaker) Wallace, and Clay Adams; his grandchildren, Sawyer Wallace, Saylor Wallace, Cori Jo Bridges, Cam Whitaker, and Evelyn Whitaker; his sister and brother-in-law, Leevay and Terry Benton; brothers, Roy Adams, Billy and Gloria Adams, and Ricky and Debbie Adams; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Kathy and Danny Digby; and a host of nephews and nieces and a multitude of close friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Virginia (Cookie) Adams, Leroy Adams, Lois and H. C. McDougle, and Kenneth and Catherine Adams, and his father-in-law and mother in-law, Jack and Eva Chilcoat.

Pallbearers will be Corey Montgomery, Brad Montgomery, Chris Montgomery, Jason Digby, Chase Rushing, and Mikey Gough. Honorary Pallbearers will be the MDOT crew, Sunday Crew from Roy’s, and the Hatfield Hunting Club members.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Johnny’s name, to the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, P.O. Box 901, Fulton, MS 38843.
