John “Jack” Carl Buchan, 68, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on August 18, 2024. Born in West Palm Beach, Florida, Jack lived a life marked by service, faith, and love for his family.

Jack honorably served in the U.S. Army from 1976 to 1979, where he completed his basic training at Fort Jackson and Military Police training at Fort McClellan. He served in White Sands Missile Range and Fort Richardson and continued to serve his community as a law enforcement officer for over 30 years.

A man of faith, Jack was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the BYKOTA Lodge in Greenacres, Florida. His commitment to the principles of Freemasonry was unwavering and reflected in his actions and character.

Jack’s love for music and the arts was evident in his talents as a musician, writer, and composer for guitar and banjo. His adventurous spirit led him to the skies as a licensed pilot and beneath the waves as a certified diver.

Jack’s commitment to service and fun spirit is reflected in his Jimmy Buffett Parrot Head club membership. He was the founder of the Parrot Heads for the Palm Beaches, an organization dedicated to environmental causes and charities while having fun.

He leaves behind his wife, Karen Wells Buchan; daughter and granddaughter; brother, Jeremy Buchan; sisters, Janice Buchan and Judy Pascarella; and nephew, Joseph Pascarella. Jack was preceded in death by his parents.

Jack will be remembered for his quiet kindness, generosity, and the gentle humor that endeared him to all who knew him. He was a man who exemplified respect for all creatures and lived a life of gratitude.

In keeping with Jack’s wishes, no services will be held.
