Mrs. Janice McAllister, age 64, of Scottsboro, passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, August 3, 2024. Born in 1960 to Billy and Maxine Warren, Janice’s life was a testament to love and compassion.
Janice received the Holy Ghost in 1975 at Scottsboro Holiness Church, marking the beginning of her spiritual journey. In her teenage years, she met and fell in love with David McAllister, marrying him in 1978.
Soon after high school, Janice began a long and respected career with the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), where she held numerous positions and worked at multiple plants. Her colleagues and coworkers admired her for her hard work and dedication.
Janice was known for her deep compassion, empathy, and generosity, always putting the well-being of others above her own. She spent countless hours worrying and praying for those in need, showing her boundless love for people. Her love extended to all animals, especially her beloved poodles with whom she shared many evening walks while watching the bunnies play in her backyard. She had a passion for travel and enjoyed visiting many beautiful places, when her health permitted, with the beach and cruising holding a special place in her heart.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband, David McAllister; her father, Billy Warren; her brother, Larry Warren; her grandparents, Rev. Robert and Sis. Cora Warren; her grandmother, Vertie Parker; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, Melvin and Pearl McAllister and her brother-in-law Russell Smith.
She leaves behind her mother, Maxine Warren; her sister-in-law, Marie Smith; her brothers-in-law, Tommy (Jessica) McAllister and Jerry McAllister. Her Nieces Sarah (Jim) Ratliff, Stacie (Shane) Cooper, Amber McAllister, Madison (Blaine) Brown, Jade (Jacob) Kittle, and Grace McAllister. Her Nephews, Shawn (Amber) Smith, Tyson McAllister, Hunter Benefield, and Vayden McAllister. Her Great-Nieces, Samantha Coley, Emily Jurgovan, Avery Cooper, Mary Anna Laughlin, Wrenley Kittle, Roseanna Brown. Her Great Nephew, Kolten Cooper, her Great-Great Niece, Ryley Coley, and her beloved dogs, Sophie and Eliana. Janice also leaves behind many friends who supported her through the years including her Aunts, Cousins, and Friends.
The family would like to thank all of the members of the Scottsboro Holiness Church for their devotion to Janice. There is too many to name but each of you share a special place with Janice and she Loved you all so much.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Scottsboro Funeral Home with Rev. Shirley Byrum, Rev. Scott Cooley, and Rev. James “Totchie” Mc Lain officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 12-2 p.m. Wednesday at Scottsboro Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pinehaven Memorial Gardens.
