Grace Augusta (Elliott) Schoeberl, a longtime resident of Pulaski, Tennessee, passed away at Williamson County Medical Center after a courageous battle with the coronavirus on July 18, 2020. Grace passed at the age of 86 after a life full of joy.
Grace is survived by her husband, Jerald (Jim) Schoeberl, Sr.; her brother, Tommy (JoEllen) Elliott of San Francisco, CA. She is also survived by her children, Robert (Kim) Haines of Navarre, FL; Allan (Shirl) Haines of Wellington, FL; Jean (Ray) Hill of Pulaski, TN; Larry (Brenda) Haines of Navarre, FL; and Richard (Mitzi) Schoeberl of Thompson’s Station, TN.
She is predeceased by her son, Jerry (Edie) Schoeberl. Grace was the strong matriarch of a large and loving family, which includes six children, seventeen grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren. Grace was born in Jersey City, NJ on September 23, 1933 and was daughter to Helen and Joe Casar. She spent her childhood and adolescence in New York City during the Great Depression. On May 5, 1960, she married Jim Schoeberl, with whom she would spend sixty wonderful years. She was a valued member of the community, who loved to volunteer at civic events, such as elections. Grace had a sharp wit and a quick mind. Grace was a lifelong learner with a desire for knowledge. Whether it was a book, newspaper, or crime-novel, she was always an avid reader, a habit she instilled in her children. She enjoyed traveling, especially to her vacation home in Florida with her family. Grace was a pillar of her family. She will be remembered for her warmth and generosity. She was always ready to lend a warm heart, a hug, and a wonderful smile. She was a good sport and would always shoot straight with us. We loved her very much and will miss her laughter. She was always in your corner. The good Lord has her now and she will be reunited with her son and family.
