“Our Music in the Park series has become a cornerstone summer tradition in Florence,” said Bill Jordan, Director of Florence Parks and Recreation. “With both lunchtime and evening concerts, we’re offering our community multiple ways to enjoy live music in a beautiful, welcoming setting—completely free of charge.”
Music in the Park is held at Wilson Park, home to the iconic statue of W.C. Handy, the “Father of the Blues,” who was born in Florence in 1873. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a relaxed, family-friendly environment filled with music and community spirit. The May series offers a perfect break during the workday, while the June concerts provide an ideal way to enjoy warm summer nights.
This concert series is made possible through the support of generous sponsors, including the Florence Parks & Recreation Foundation, Alabama Council on the Arts, Florence-Lauderdale Convention & Visitors Bureau, First Metro Bank, and Big River Broadcasting – WQLT & KIX96.
