FLORENCE – The huge dustup now taking over Washington D.C. against the Internal Revenue Service’s singling-out and delaying right wing-groups their tax-free status has made it to town.

Tea Party protests Florence Internal Revenue Service.

Anti-tax activists moved onto the front lawn of the I.R.S. offices this morning with a protest against what they say is a flagrant overreach of authority. The activists came in the name of Tea Party Patriots of North Alabama. No so much a “rag-tag assemblage of tax-fighters”, but more buttoned-down… more civilized… angry.IMG_3605

The protest was organized only yesterday, according to Tea Party President, Steve Phillips, “We only decided yesterday to do this. We sent out an e-mail to see who could do it.” Phillips told The Quad-Cities Daily that his particular organization is not trying to qualify for a tax-exempt status. But the fact remains that, in his opinion, this overreach by the I.R.S. hurts everybody, not only those who are applying for the tax breaks. “They have the ability to put you out of business, they have the ability to bankrupt you. And you have no recourse,” he said that having the IRS take this path against United States Citizens is one of the most egregious transgressions by government. Proof, to him and his company of protesters  that the Federal government is too big… too powerful. He said that we are in a dangerous time. “If they (the I.R.S.) call you in for an audit, and you sit there before them and say, ‘I don’t know,’ they’ll put you in jail,” he emphasized.

When asked about his opinion as to the state of the Nation he said, “It tells me that we’re in a bad state. And I talked to a young man last night who is about 32 years old. And he said he believed that within his lifetime he would have to physically fight for his liberty and his country. And I hope it doesn’t come to that. I hope that this I.R.S. situation is a breaking point here. I hope that it makes Americans wake up. Because of what they see with the I.R.S. situation is a breaking point. and I hope that it doesn’t come to that. Because of that they see with the I.R.S. that americans will come back and take control.

You can never embarrass yourself, doing something you truly believe in. It takes people with a whole lot of pride to stand up for what they believe in. They are not idiots, they are people with a passion, the guts and above all else they are not sitting by, letting the government roll over them. Shame on you Mr Phillips, you don’t understand them, so you resort to calling them names. You should be ashamed! This man here, gives them a big pat on the back, and if they ever do it again, I hope they let me know. I am not part of the Tea party, but believe in FREEDOM and will stand with them. Tired of a big Government doing what they want to the people that stand up for themselves.

Apology accepted. Your reasoning and/or reading skills qualify you to join the teabaggers in spades! Grab a “Don’t Tread on Me” flag and put on that tin foil three corner hat and join the parade (of idiots) Anyone else notice in this “force” (farce would have been a better choice of wording for the title, given the small turnout) that most of these goobers are at a very minimum drawing SS or medicare?

If they only watched the Colbert Report, they would have known that you don’t have to file with the IRS to be a 501 C organization.

Mr. May,
Your condemning remarks are much more embarrassing than the actions of those who stand up for what they believe in. Whether they are right or wrong doesn’t make your negative judgement acceptable. I bet you were a bully in school, too. Or were you the outcast who now feels the need to retaliate? I hope you find the courage to do something much more positive with your frustrations such as serve your country and pay in your fair share so that you too will have the opportunity to draw SS and/or medicare.

Best wishes, sir.

Mr. Michael White you have used your first amendment by making derogatory remarks about people you do not know! They were using their first amendment to stand up for your rights and theirs. May-be the government wont ask you for a list of your friends (no matter how small it would be) or ask for the content of your prayers. I would suggest that next time you feel the need to express your self try this: Thanks ONE DOZEN protestors!!!!!!!!!! For caring about a government and a IRS that out of control and I am embarrass for not even knowing what the hell is going on with my government wile I’m trying to keeping up with the kardashians.

In reply to the leftists who so blatantly run their mouth because they are so narrow minded and
have had life too easy. I ask this question? If you had been here in 1776 would you have taken
the same attitude? Big, too big government is called tyranny. In addition, you just exercised
your freedom of speech:Try going to a country where the government is corrupt and speak
against something the government does against you or one of your friends or family. Also,
would the great U.S. be here today if the brave, patriotic few had not stood up against a out
of control taxing England? The IRS and the leftists in government are out of control.. .
