LAUDERDALE COUNTY-During the past several months, the Lauderdale County Drug Task Force (LCDTF) and the Lauderdale County District Attorney’s (DA) office has been flooded with calls about juveniles using, abusing and overdosing while using reported THC vapes. These calls were from parents of school aged children, government officials, school resource officers and others. LCDTF, along with the Florence Police Department, Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office and the DA’s office started an investigation into the distribution of these THC vapes to juveniles.
During the course of the investigation, multiple controlled purchases of THC vapes were made from several gas stations and smoke shops in Lauderdale County. The purchased vapes were sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences (ADFS). The reports from ADFS revealed that the THC vapes were a
controlled substance.
On 03/07/2025 Search warrants were executed at 3 locations and officers went to 3 additional locations to arrest individuals for selling to the minors. Officers and Deputies went to the following locations with search warrants and/or arrest warrants:

During the search of the businesses, agents located more vapes containing controlled substances, small amount of Methamphetamine (ICE), drug paraphernalia, pipes used for smoking Methamphetamine, green leafy substance believed to be a controlled substance (Khat) and a large amount pills that require a
prescription (Viagra).
