FLORENCE-The City of Florence and Florence Fire & Rescue proudly announce the groundbreaking ceremony for Fire Station 4, the first fire station built in the city since the 1960s. The groundbreaking will take place on March 17, 2025, at 10:00 AM at 3250 Mahogany Ave. Community members, local officials, and Florence Fire & Rescue members are invited to attend this occasion.

Florence Mayor Andrew Betterton expressed, “Florence Fire & Rescue has a long-standing tradition of excellence, and Station 4 is a testament to our commitment to public safety. This is a proud moment for our City, and we look forward to this station’s impact for generations to come.” Located at the southwest corner of Mahogany Ave. and N. Franklin Street, Fire Station 4 is strategically positioned to optimize response times and provide enhanced service to the Florence community.

Fire Chief Tim Anerton emphasized the importance of this project stating, “This new station represents a significant investment in the safety of our residents and the well-being of our firefighters. It will provide the space, resources, and modern facilities we need to serve the community more effectively.”

This new 8,493-square-foot facility will replace the existing station on Huntsville Road, which has served the City since 1964. The modernized station is designed to improve response times, provide enhanced resources for firefighters, and meet today’s safety and operational standards. It will include a two-bay apparatus room, additional space for training and operations, and updated accommodations to support both male and female firefighters. The project will be completed in 420 days and is expected to open in 2026.

The City of Florence and Florence Fire & Rescue invite the public to celebrate this exciting milestone.
