Fay Thomas Holt – Obituary

fayeFay Thomas Holt, age 91 of Muscle Shoals, Alabama, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2015 joining his wife, Mable, and grandson, Reggie Bratton, who preceded him to the larger life. Also preceding Fay in death were his brothers, Charles Henry Holt, Jr. and Jack Holt; and sister, Mignon Vanderford.

The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday, July 19, 2015 from 1:30-3:00 pm at Colbert Memorial Chapel. The funeral will begin at 3:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Ronnie Williams officiating.

Fay Thomas Holt was born on October 8, 1923 to Charles Henry Holt and Ruth Virginia Payne Holt on the Oklahoma Osage Indian Reservation. He was educated in both the primary and secondary schools of the Hominy Schools. Upon completion of High School he enlisted in the United States Merchant Marines and served his enlisted in the North Atlantic Theater of operations during World War II. After completion of his military service, his continuing education was specialized remedial and technical studies in engineering and metallurgical engineering in preparation for civilian employment with the Ford Motor Company as a testing engineer during his 37 years employment with Ford at the Sheffield operation. Mr. Holt received the highest service commendations and awards for quality improvement in engine and drivetrain casting component technology given by Ford Motor Company to its employees.

His service to the industry continued as a volunteer member of the Society of Die Casting Engineers, Chapter 29. His used his education and membership advisory capacities to further the technical aspects of die casting and permanent mold casting metallurgy of aluminum alloys.

Fay was a loving care giver to his sweet wife, Mable, for over ten years as she battled Alzheimers.

Mr. Holt was survived by his daughter, Brenda Bratton (Jimmy); and grandchildren, Kelly Hovater (Steve), and Matt Bratton (Joy).

In lieu of flowers the family the family requests contributions be made to Muscle Shoals Bible Church Building Fund or the American Legion Wounded Veterans Fund through the local post.
