Extreme Cold Warning…List Of Warming Centers

cold weatherTHE TENNESSEE VALLEY-The weather has taken an arctic turn  and is going to get colder over the next couple of days.  We will be posting a list of places where people can get in out of the cold.  As we get more places to get a respite from the bitterly cold weather we will post them here.   If you know of a place that is offering shelter please contact us at wc_webquadcitiesdaily@gmail.com. A list of warming centers:

First United Methodist Church Beasley Center – 202 W. Bryan St., Athens, AL, 35611 will be open Wednesday (1/7/15) and Thursday  (1/8/15) night  for people to get out of the cold.

Room in The Inn Shoals contact them at roomintheinnshoals.com located in Florence, AL.

Starting Wednesday night, Grateful Life Community church in Huntsville will open its doors.  The church is located at 207 Oakwood Avenue in Huntsville, AL.

Madison County EMA and United Way have a website with several shelter locations sheltermadison.com/ click on the shelter location on the map and get the address of the shelter.

VERY COLD TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED THIS WEEK…
AN ARCTIC COLD FRONT WILL MOVE THROUGH THE AREA ON WEDNESDAY… BRINGING A PROLONGED PERIOD OF SUBFREEZING TEMPERATURES AND THE COLDEST WEATHER SINCE JANUARY 2014.
TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO REMAIN BELOW FREEZING FROM WEDNESDAY UNTIL FRIDAY AFTERNOON… WITH LOWS IN THE SINGLE DIGITS AND TEENS AND HIGHS ONLY IN THE 20S AND 30S FROM WEDNESDAY THROUGH FRIDAY. GUSTY NORTH WINDS WILL MAKE IT FEEL EVEN COLDER… WITH WIND CHILLS BELOW ZERO AT TIMES BY WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND CONTINUING THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING.
PREPARATIONS SHOULD BE MADE NOW FOR THIS UPCOMING LONG DURATION OF SUBFREEZING TEMPERATURES. ENSURE WATER PIPES ARE PROPERLY PROTECTED FROM THE COLD AND OUTDOOR ANIMALS HAVE ADEQUATE SHELTER. IF OUTDOORS… WEAR LAYERS OF CLOTHING TO PROTECT FROM THE COLD WEATHER.
