Dorothy Evans McFarland, 87, of Huntsville passed away Monday at her residence. Dorothy Parker McFarland was born June 8, 1927 at Scottsboro, AL. She accepted Christ as her personal savior and was baptized as a teenager at 1st Baptist Church of Scottsboro, AL. She graduated with honors from Scottsboro High School in May of 1945. Dorothy had two daughters and a son out of her first marriage which lasted approximately 25 years. She met and married John McFarland in 1970 and for 44 years they had one of the most successful marriages one could hope for. Dorothy became very sick during 2010 and was cared for by John until her passing on January 05, 2015. Survivors include her husband of 44 years: John L. McFarland; one son: Stanley G. Evans; her daughter-in-law: Connie M. Evans; six grandchildren: Cherie Evans, Jennifer Reece, Jillian Cizunas, Tommy Stinnett, Walter Stinnett and Selina Pierce and four great-grandchildren: Savannah Reece, Rome Reece, Ava Stinnett and Aurek Stinnett. Visitation will be Tuesday from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home with funeral services Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at Whitesburg Baptist Church (South Campus Chapel) with Rev. John Cocker officiating. Burial will follow in Huntsville Memory Gardens with Berryhill Funeral Home directing.
