TUSCUMBIA-On Friday, October 16 students from Deshler High School’s “Law in Society and Forensic Science” classes participated in a field trip to the Colbert County Courthouse and toured offices of the Sheriff’s Office, Circuit Clerk’s, District Attorneys and Judges.
The students also went into the jail and toured the cells and were able to see inmates and the daily surroundings in which they live. Sheriff Frank Williamson and Assistant Chief DeShannon Bowling both spoke to the group of young people about “life behind bars” and the effects incarceration
can have on individuals.
Sheriff Williamson stressed how drug use and even petty crimes can damage a young person’s future. We want to thank Deshler High School teachers Dr. Melody Murphy and Tracey Almon for bringing this group to visit us today.
