Courtland Man Dies In Single-Vehicle Accident

COURTLAND-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a single-vehicle accident that has taken the life of a Courtland man:

“A single-vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 5:40 p.m. Monday, September 16, has claimed the life of a Courtland man.

Melvin L. Reedus Jr., 40, was fatally injured when the 2017 Infiniti Q50 that he was driving left the roadway, struck a mailbox, a utility pole, a gas line and then a tree. Reedus was not using a seat belt at the time of crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The crash occurred on Alabama 33 near Lawrence County 286, approximately four miles southeast of Courtland, in Lawrence County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
