Brenda Joyce “Mimi” Mather

  Brenda Joyce “Mimi” Mather, age 73, of Russellville, formerly of Spruce Pine, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2024 at Burns Nursing Home.

Mimi was born June 27, 1951, in Blaze Branch, Kentucky, to Dempsey and Norma Elkins. She was a loving and sweet mother and grandmother, a devout Christian. She was a member of Spruce Pine Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and took pride in organizing the yearly school clothes giveaway and crafts at VBS. She volunteered at Spruce Pine Community Center where she was a founding member. She loved animals, liked to read, work in the yard, and was a Dallas Cowboys Football fan.

Graveside will be held at Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Phil Campbell, Alabama at 11:00 a.m. Brother Jim Poss will officiate.

Mimi is survived by her children, Tom (Serena) Mather, Tammy (Jeff) Hutcheson, Rhonda Presley, Billy (Michelle) Mather, Tina (Santwan) Odom, Phillip Mather, Jan Place, and Lorie (Cliff) Cremeen.

Her grandchildren, Gabriella (Sidney) Peterson, Mia (Colton) Vickery, Kelley Presley, Guillermo Moreno III., Tori Mather, Kyli Mather, Brandon Place, Millie McKennon, Macy McKennon, Troy (Marlena) Mather, Latina Mather, Cole (Mallory) Cremeen, Adria Cremeen, Amber Cremeen, Amelia Odom, Jordan Odom, Brian Mather, Steven Mather, and Justin Mather; great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Tom Mather; sons, Ray Mather and Roy Mather; her parents; sister, Regina Shoe; and brother, James Elkins.
