SHEFFIELD – Disgraced stalwart of the First United Methodist Church, Oliver Brazelle, admitted to Senior Pastor Zeke Haselden that he had engaged in an “inappropriate relationship with a younger member”. This was revealed to members of the congregation of one of the oldest churches in Northwest Alabama today in a letter sent to their homes, following the termination of Brazelle’s 56-year tenure.
Police authorities are interviewing at least three alleged victims in their criminal investigation. Brazelle, has yet to be formally charged with any crime. According to Sheffield Police Chief, Greg Ray, “Nothing good is going to come out of this investigation.” The decision of whether or not to issue an arrest warrant, is expected very shortly.
