Brandon Alexander “Xander” McWalters, 9, of Oak Grove, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.
Xander was granted his running legs on June 2, 2016, after he was forever cured of Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Although Xander’s body was weak, he had a heart that could rival any superhero. His last request was to help others live longer through organ donation, and he was able to fulfill that request. He will remain an inspiration to all of those that loved and knew him. Xander leaves behind many caregivers that he loved dearly. He also leaves behind his best friend and service dog, Boo.
Xander is survived by his loving parents, Ronald Craig and Amanda Booth; brothers, Ross McWalters and Rowen Booth, currently stationed at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky; grandparents, Joe M. and Barbara Hubbard of Jasper, Ronney Booth of Townley and Shelia Patterson of Childersburg; great-grandmother, Magdaline Booth; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Joe W. and Vadie Hubbard, Herman and Mary Lee Hyche and Alfred Booth.
Visitation will be held Sunday, June 5, 2016, from 6 until 8 p.m. at Collins Burke Funeral Home. The funeral will be held Monday, June 6, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the chapel at Collins Burke Funeral Home. Burial will be at Hunters Chapel Cemetery. Brian Richardson and Tommy Alford will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Xander’s favorite charity, www.smaangels.org.
