Dorothy Jean Holly, 97, passed away Monday. Dorothy was born in Tacoma, Washington to John William and Hazel Dell (Stone) Slater.  On her marriage to George Holly in 1946, Dorothy became a military wife.  She loved the travel, friends and community experiences their assignments provided. She also enjoyed playing the organ and was an accomplished seamstress.  Upon retirement and moving to Florida, Dorothy enjoyed the sun and sea for the next 40 years.  After her husband George died, she moved to Huntsville to be near her family.

Dorothy is predeceased by her parents; husband George, son Jim, and sister Mardell. She is survived by son John, daughter-in-law Theresa, three granddaughters and eight great-grandchildren.

The family is grateful to the Redstone Village and Hospice caregivers who were so helpful, attentive and caring to Dorothy.

A graveside service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia at a later date.
