Mr. Billy Marvin Cleveland, age 86, of Huntsville, Alabama, passed away on Thursday, January 17. Bill was an Air Force Veteran and retired employee of the Huntsville Utilities. However, more importantly, he was a devout family man. His life was “Renee”, his surviving spouse. She was the love of his life from the moment he first met her, until the last time they shared a kiss. Their nearly 70 years of marriage was his testament of the special love.
Bill’s second love was the game of skeet shooting. He was a world-class competitor in the game and spent countless hours instructing, competing, and introducing the game to all levels.
Those close to him often called him “Billa”. I am sure somewhere they can hear him saying “pull it” to signal the next bird.
After retirement, Bill spent most of his waking hours developing a garden. This was more than just a garden. He had the green thumb and a gift for turning a normal space into a horticulturists dream. Neighbors would come from all over Huntsville Park to share in his hobby.
Preceded in death by his son, Benny Cleveland; Parents, Oscar and Marie Cleveland. He is survived by his “Renee”, Alice Irene Cleveland; Son, Billy Cleveland; Brother, Winston Cleveland; Daughter-In-Law, Laura Cleveland; two granddaughters, Isabella and Gabriella Cleveland; numerous nieces, nephew and friends.
The family will receive friends from 11:00AM – 1:00PM on Tuesday, January 22, at Spry Funeral Home, 2411 Memorial Parkway, Huntsville, Alabama. A graveside service will be held for family and friends at 2:00PM at Maple Hill Cemetery. The family would like to express our thanks for the wonderful care given to Bill by the Floyd E. “Tut” Fann State Veterans Home and the Hospice of North Alabama.
