Obituary of Billy Don Looney Billy Don Looney of Decatur, Alabama passed away on January 3, 2025. He was born on December 28, 1932. A Celebration of Life service will begin at 1:00pm on January 8, 2025, at Roselawn Chapel with Pastor Ted Amey officiating. The visitation will start an hour prior.

Billy Don is survived by his beloved wife of 72 years, Eloise Compton Looney; daughters, Pamela Looney Green (Rex), Donna Looney Pearlstein (Mark); grandchildren, Bernadette Green Guastini (Corey), Lindsey Pearlstein Smith (Parker), Matthew Compton Pearlstein and Justin Christopher Green.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert Monroe Looney and Lillie Belle Sheehan Looney and nine siblings.

Billy Don graduated from Austinville High School where he played basketball. He served in the U.S. Army stateside during the Korean War. He graduated from Athens State College and operated his residential construction company in Decatur for 40 years.

He was president of the Decatur Homebuilders Association for many years and served as an official with the National Homebuilders Association.

Billy enjoyed playing golf and watching Auburn Sports. He was a faithful member of Ninth Street United Methodist Church until its closure.

His motto for life was “Live Right, Do Right, and Everything Will be Alright”

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

Pallbearers will be Rex Green, Mark Pearlstein, Matthew Pearlstein, Corey Guastini, Parker Smith and Justin Green.
