Bill Cochran passed away Monday, May 23, 2016. Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Thursday May 26, 2016 at Morrison Funeral Home, Cherokee, AL. The funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in Cherokee Memorial Park. Jim Perkins and Baron Vander Maas will officiate.
Bill was a native of Colbert Co., AL and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was retired after 30 years as a locomotive engineer with Norfolk Southern. He was an artist of stainglass and was meticulously talented and could master most any project. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Survivors are: his wife Elizabeth “Ann” Mauldin Cochran; daughters: DeLona Cochran Young, Sondra Cochran (Anthony) Posey; step-daughters: Gwen (Ronald) Brents and Sherry Levey; sisters: Florence Cochran Albersten; Irene Cochran Peck, and Maeola Cochran Kopp; six grandchildren: Will McIntosh, Zach Barrett, Coleton Young, Calee Young, Carlee Young and Zane Scharff.
Pallbearers will be Coleton Young, Zane Scharff, Will McIntosh, Zach Barrett, Tim Mauldin, Eddie Dean Smith, and honorary pallbearer Arthur Woodis.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to a special friend, Dennis Freeman, for looking after our father/husband, in the final months of his life.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
