Born on November 6, 1946, Betty was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose greatest joy in life was loving and caring for her family and spending time with her friends.

Raised in New Hope, Betty attended New Hope High School, where she was a majorette in the marching band. It was there that she met her high school sweetheart, Jimmy, and on December 11, 1966, they began their life together. They spent their life in the Big Cove area of Owens Cross Roads and raised two daughters.

One of Betty’s greatest joys was playing the piano, a passion she discovered at the age of eight. Throughout her life, she shared her gift with others, playing at her church, special events, and for anyone who asked. She also spent many years teaching piano lessons, passing down her love of music to future generations.

Betty was a lifelong member of The United Methodist Church, where she found great joy in serving through her music. Her faith was the foundation of her life, and she placed God first in all that she did, setting an example of grace, kindness, and unwavering belief for everyone who knew her. She was always there for family and friends to provide kind words or just to listen.

Betty dedicated more than 35 years to her career as a bookkeeper and manager at The New Hope Telephone Cooperative, where she was known for her strong work ethic and kindness. Despite her busy career, she always made time for her family, never missing an opportunity to be present in their lives. After retirement, she embraced her greatest role yet-being a grandmother. She poured her heart into her grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will live on in their hearts always.

She was preceded in death by her father, J.C. Taylor, her mother, Frances Taylor, and her husband ,Jimmy Buford.
