Barbara Gene McCollum Harper age 74 of Scottsboro, formally of Guntersville, died Thursday September 15, 2016 at her residence.
Mrs. Harper was born December 27, 1941 to the late Montgomery George “Gum” McCollum and Mildred Katherine Nimon McCollum. She was a graduate of Marshall County High School. Mrs. Harper was a dental hygienist, a longtime member of the Alabama Dental Association and the American Dental Association. She retired from Aetna in Birmingham. After retirement she resided in Scottsboro. She was a gifted painter.
Mrs. Harper is survived by her loving husband of 33 years; Russell N. Harper, Sister; Glenda McCollum Elrod, Nephew; Jeff Elrod, Niece; Kelly Waldrop, Great Nephew; Wesley Waldrop, Great Niece; Macy Elrod, Great Great Nephew McCollum “Mack” Waldrop.
In lieu of flowers family has requested donations be made in memory of Mrs. Harper to Guntersville Professional Fire Fighter Association local 3447.
