DECATUR-The Open Cup, a USSSA sanctioned tournament, makes it way to Decatur next month for the twelfth year, and the weekend tournament is expected to draw in 80 teams from across the eastern United States. Set for April 15-16, 2023, all matches are held at the Jack Allen Recreation Complex.
The Open Cup offers USSF affiliated Premier, Challenge, Classic and Academy level U9-U19 girls’ and boys’ competitive soccer opportunities. There will be a minimum of one division per age division/gender with an elite level of play and one to two competitive divisions tiered lower if possible. Trophies will be awarded to the champion and runner-up team in each age division.
Matches will be held at the Jack Allen Recreation Complex, one of the South’s premier soccer complexes boasting 11 fields and two championship fields.
According to Event Organizer Scott Spencer, approximately 80 teams from eight states are expected in Decatur for the 2023 Open Cup. Previous tournaments have attracted teams from 16 different states and from Brazil, Nigeria, Trinidad and Tobago, Canada, Mexico, El Salvador and Panama.
A parking pass for the entire weekend is $10 per vehicle.
