FLORENCE-According to reports there were seven women who were part of the human trafficking case against a local attorney and one other man.
Now a third man has been arrested in the case. Reginald Brett Mitchell, 51 of Florence has been arrested on indictments of Tampering with and destruction of evidence.
Reports indicate there were at least seven women who were victimized by a local attorney, and a third man has been arrested following a lengthy investigation into human trafficking. It was reported in court records that both Dillard and Staggs “did knowingly recruit, entice, solicit, induce, harbor, transport, hold, restrain, provide, subject or obtain by any means” the victims for the purpose of “labor
servitude or sexual servitude.”
A Lauderdale County grand jury indicted Dillard,51 a Florence attorney, on seven counts of 2nd degree human trafficking, four counts of 2nd degree conspiracy to commit human trafficking, one count of 2nd degree sexual abuse, two counts of making a terrorist threat, and one count of intimidating a witness.
Staggs, 83 also of Florence, was indicted on five counts of 2nd degree human trafficking, and four counts of conspiracy to commit human trafficking.
Mitchell, 51 is accused of disposing of digital information.
