Shirley May West, age 78, born on March 21, 1948in Marshall County, Alabama, passed away peacefully at her residence on Friday, April 24, 2026. She was one of eight children born to John “Johnny” Ernest Hudgins and Frances Lee Franklin Hudgins. Shirley was married to Clarence Kenneth West, who departed this life on March 23, 2023.Five years ago, Shirley relocated to the Arab area from Lacey’s Spring and embraced her new community with warmth and kindness.
Shirley loved her family, and treasured each moment spent with them. She attended both Little Gethsemane House of Prayerand Calvary Church in Lacey’s Spring where she found fellowship and spiritual comfort. She loved the Lord and loved attending church services.
Shirley is survived by her sons, Rodney (Betty) West and Kevin West; daughters, Aymie Ditto (Jason), Malinda Lippo (Roger), and Miranda Clark; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; brother, Billy John Hudgins; sister, Marcel Walling (Clifford).
She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Kenneth West; parents, Johnny and Frances Hudgins; daughter, Pam Finley; sisters, Jean Forrester, Helen Elison, Ruth Edwards and Ruby Durham; brother, Lynell Hudgins.
The family has chosen to honor Shirley’s wishes for cremation and will be announcing a memorial service later. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel assisting the family with arrangements.
