Funeral service for Joe Keith Barber, age 53, of Hartselle, will be Monday, June 17, 2013, 3:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jason Moore officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until service time at the funeral home. Interment will be in Burningtree Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Barber, who died Thursday, June 13, 2013, at his residence, was born November 16, 1959, in Decatur, to Harold Joe Barber and Faye Brown Barber. He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Norman Jeffreys, and two nephews, Lil Brent Shaw and Ryan Shaw. During the past 35 years, Mr. Barber was employed by Winn Dixie, Green Scapes, and Specialty Machine. He was a member of Cave springs Baptist Church, loved spending time with family and friends, and thoroughly enjoyed hunting, fishing, farming, and camping. Mr. Barber went very peacefully to be with his Heavenly Father after a long battle related to a vehicular accident.
He is survived by his loving wife, Vicki Barber of Hartselle; one son, Joseph Brett Barber (Audrey) of Hartselle; his parents, Joe and Faye Barber of Priceville; three sisters, Teresa “Sis” Hutchison (Tim) of Priceville, Phyllis Smith (Barry) of Minor Hill, TN, and Terri Hamilton (Keith) of Danville; sister-in-law, Shantina Shaw (Brent) of Tanner; mother-in-law, Jerri Jeffreys of Decatur; and a host of nephews and nieces.
Pallbearers will be Clay Shaw, Scottie Parrish, Cody Shaw, Grant Parrish, Rand Hutchison, and Kyle Roberson.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all of his loving caregivers, especially Hospice of the Valley.
