James Jaycox, age 71 of Winchester, passed away on Friday, March 20, 2026, at his residence. He was born in Effingham, Illinois, on December 11, 1954, to the late Charles and Burnita (Merz) Jaycox. Before his retirement, James worked as a truck driver, a profession he dearly loved and reminisced about frequently. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, especially his trips to Daytona during Bike Week. His fun-loving personality along with his caring nature will be missed by all who knew and loved him. James had attended Crossroad Baptist Church when he was able. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Sharon Neely and Rhodene Elliott. James is survived by his sons, Charlie Jaycox and James Jaycox Jr; nephews, Josh (Vicky) Nickerson and Ted (Crystal) Nickerson; nieces, Jennifer Rodriguez and Kristen Ewert; great-nieces and great-nephews, Kaitlyn Nickerson, Kinsley Nickerson, Cierra (Blake) Davenport, Blaze Nickerson, Trace Nickerson, Kyla Johnson, and Jade Tipton; and the love of his life, his cat, Baby D.
