Joshua Wayne Byrum, age 40, passed away Friday, March 20, 2026, at Jackson Madison County General Hospital.
Joshua was born in Jackson, TN to the late Cory Wayne Byrum and Amelia Inell Middleton New. He was raised in Pinson and graduated from Southside Highschool.
If you wanted to know anything about cartoons, Joshua was your guy! He could spend hours cheering on his favorite Pokeman as they battled and grew stronger. Even seeing himself as a Power Ranger, becoming brave and unstoppable saving the day. He also had a wild side, a love for scary movies. Though nobody really understood why he liked them so much, scary movies did not frighten him the way they did others.
When he was not watching his favorite cartoons, Joshua had a love for the Smoky Mountains. He enjoyed seeing all the tall trees and endless skies. Even though he went there every year, each trip was a new adventure.
In the end, Joshua loved his family. Especially his grandfather, James David Middleton. As well as many aunts and uncles.
He is survived by uncles; Van Middleton, David Middleton (Becky Jean), Andy Middleton (Dana), Mikey Middleton and Walter Byrum (Sherry); as well as an aunt, Kim Pierce (Bo).
Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday March 25, 2026, at Shackelford Funeral Directors – Crook Avenue Chapel with burial at Chapel Hill in Lexington.
The family will receive friends at Crook Avenue on Wednesday from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM service time.
