Carlos Wayne Usery of Elkmont, age 86, passed from this life to his eternal home on March 4, 2026. He was a lifelong member of the Pettusville community.

 

He leaves behind a daughter, Shelia Pylant (Bobby) of Athens, son, Ronnie Usery (Dean) of Elkmont, three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a brother, Paul Usery of Athens and two sisters, Linda Meadows of Athens and Mattie Lipham of Ardmore, Alabama.

 

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ozell and Vernon Usery, his wife, Ella Merle Usery, one daughter, one son, two grandchildren, and two brothers.

 

Carlos lived a long, simple life. He believed the old ways were the best and he lived by them. He was a man of his word and always willing to help someone in need. He took pride in his homeplace as he was a nurseryman for forty-three years at S and S Nursery. He will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.

 

The family will have a visitation Saturday, March 7th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Spry Funeral Home of Athens. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 7th at Hodges Cemetery in Pettusville with Frankie Murphy officiating.
