Laura Marné Lindley Greer, 74, of Huntsville, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2026. She graduated from Hartselle High School in 1970. She married her high school sweetheart, Larry Greer, at the beginning of her junior year at Auburn. They were married by her grandfather, Herbert Cole, who was a Baptist Minister. They were married for 53 years.

She worked at Auburn and in Birmingham while Larry was in medical school. They lived in Hawaii for a year during Larry’s internship, and the Washington D.C. area for three years for Larry’s residency at Walter Reed. While in Germany for two years as Larry was serving at Landstuhl Army Medical Center, she finished her degree in business with the University of Maryland. Marné developed a real love for travel while in Germany, which continued for a lifetime with multiple trips all over the world.

After Larry left the Army, they moved to Mobile, Alabama for 23 years, where Rebecca was born in 1984. In 2006, they moved to Huntsville and have been here 20 years.

Marné was a good Christian woman, as well as a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Marné loved playing golf and was once a Club Champion. She also had a love for nature, particularly birds and plants.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Fred Lindley and two sisters, Sonya Ward and Katrina Lindley. Survivors include her husband, Dr. Larry Greer; daughter, Rebecca Greer Collier (Phillip); granddaughter, Lillian Grace Collier; and her 94-year-old mother, Melba Grace Lindley.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The memorial service will immediately follow in the chapel with the Rev. Coy Hallmark officiating.

In lieu of flowers donation to Freedom Farm are suggested (https://www.freedomfarmal.org/). This is a farm near Tuscaloosa, Alabama that is a safe place for foster children to find family, hope and thrive. Marne’s uncle and Melba’s brother, Weldon Cole, have been very involved with Freedom Farm.
