Johnnie Wilson Johnnie H Wilson was born April 21, 1947 in Eutaw, Alabama and passed away February 12,
2026 at his home in Haleyville. He loved God, his family, friends, and his country. He was a
member of the Army National Guard. He was a hard-working man who began his labor career
as an instructor in Thomasville, Alabama in the Junior College System. He then relocated to
Haleyville, Alabama to be closer to his family in Russellville. He began a career in the grocery
business working at Goars Big Star for many years and eventually owned and ran his own
grocery store. He semi-retired and then just couldn’t stay away from work so he went back to
be employed for several businesses in Haleyville including Mays Flowers, then Classic Closets.
He slowed down to work in maintenance at the National Guard Amory in Haleyville until his
death.

Johnnie loved his friends and enjoyed every minute with them. He loved hunting and fishing. He
was a proud member of the Talladega Turn 2 Wrecker Crew where he served as crew member,
photographer and cook. His love for the smoker began many years ago with the advent of Hog
Wild Bar-B-Que which was enjoyed by many people. He was a mentor to many who will
continue the barbecuing tradition.

He loved good conversation with many friends and the local restaurants. He was an active
member of Haleyville Methodist Church. He was also surrounded by his family for which he
treasured and loved more than life itself. He is survived by his wife of 56 years Donna and
daughters Nicole Cook (Shane) and Gina Frazier (Wayne), grandsons Jay Cook, Robert Wilson
Frazier, and Nickolas Frazier. Brother Jimmie Wilson (Shirley), Stepbrother David Jennings
(Janet). Niece Dedra Rose (Ryan), and nephews Jimmie Wilson and Jonathan Wilson.
He is preceded in death by his loving parents Johnnie M. Wilson and Mamie Wilson and loving
stepmother Mary Jennings Wilson. Sister Peggy Vernon (Raymond), and niece Angela Vernon.

Visitation with the family will be Tuesday February 17, 2026 from 12:00NOON – 2:00PM at Haleyville Methodist Church. Celebration of Life service to follow at 2:00PM at the church, with Bro. Mark Burleson officiating
