Donald Harold Penley, 81, of Athens, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2025. He was born August 20, 1944, in Alabama to Nolan Floyd Penley and Faye Lemore Thornton Penley.
Donald Harold Penley, 81, of Athens, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2025. He was born August 20, 1944, in Alabama to Nolan Floyd Penley and Faye Lemore Thornton Penley.Mr. Penley is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Ricky Penley.
Donald worked at Monsanto in Decatur for over 32 years. He was a hard-working man, who enjoyed working in his shop sharpening lawn mower blades. He had plenty of work to do with his advertising being only word of mouth. He liked to stay busy, but at times, he did enjoy watching Nascar racing and Alabama football.
Survivors include his loving wife, Dian, of almost 47 years; one son, Lance Penley; three daughters, Heather Adams, Sonya Johnson, Sue Ellen Keeton, and one sister, Connie Higgins.
