Kenneth Gene Blackmon went home to be with the Lord on Thursday August 7, 2025. He was 82 years old. Kenneth was also best known as Pop by his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was also known as “Cannonball” to his coal miner friends. He worked and retired after 23 years from Jim Walter Mines #3. Kenneth was a lifelong resident of the Bagley and Corner community. He was a tough and hard worker and was very resilient growing up pulp wooding. But he was also a good father and provider to his children. He loved all his children; grandchildren & great-grandchildren and they all adored him. He came to know Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Brenda Gail Blackmon, daughter: Patti Angelina Blackmon, Son: Kenny G Blackmon, Mom: Bertha Blackmon, Dad: “Papa” Ules Jim Blackmon, Stepmom: Mary Blackmon. Siblings: Don Blackmon, Sue Frost.
Survivors include his children: Darrin Blackmon (Cathy), LaTonya Jackson (John)
Grandchildren: Ken Blackmon (John), Derek Blackmon (Heather), Brittney Thrasher (Justin), Brad Blackmon (Megan), Lexi Jackson.
Great Grandchildren: Ella and Noah Blackmon, Jaxon and Amelia Thrasher, Logan and Kaden Blackmon
Siblings: Patricia Hathcox, Glenda Smith, Louis Owens, Gary Blackmon, Johnny Blackmon, Marth Ann

Visitation will be held at New Horizon Funeral Home on Monday August 11, 2025, with visitation from 1-2pm and funeral service beginning at 2:00 pm. Reverend Kerry Turner will be officiating the service. Immediately following the service, those who wish to attend are asked to make their way to Good Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Dora where everyone will reconvene at the graveside for a brief committal service.
