Mr. Ged Lee Parker Ged Lee Parker, the 8th of 13 children, was born on Tuesday, July 30, 1935, in Madison County, to the late Obie Parker and the late Lillian Moore Parker.  He departed his life on Friday, July 18, 2025.

He was baptized by the late Dr. William T. Gladys and joined St. Bartley P.B. Church where he attended until his health began to decline.

Mr. Parker attended Council Training, the first public school for African American students in Huntsville which was named after William Hooper Councill, an educator and founder of Lincoln School, which later became Alabama A&M University.  After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1954, where he served as Airman Basic.  He served at Maxwell Air Force Base in Montgomery, Alabama until 1957 and received the National Defense Service Medal.

He attended Tuskegee University where he studied Computer Science.  He retired from IBM after 33 years where he was a Computer Technician. After retirement, he opened a home repair and remodeling business, Remodeling & Repairs by G.L. Parker.

He was married to Helen Townsend Parker and to this union three children were born, Olivia Parker Williams, Jeffrey Parker and Quinlan Parker. He also had an older son, Calvin Townsend, from a previous relationship.  On June 15, 2007, he united in marriage with Shirley Fitcheard Bush.

He was preceded in death by his sons, Jeffrey Parker, Quinlan Parker, siblings, Eleanor Parker, Geneva Parker, George Parker, Howard Parker, Lanier Parker, Robert Parker, Ruth Parker Johnson, and Zenobia Parker.

He leaves his wife, Shirley Bush Parker, a son, Calvin Townsend of Fuquay Varina, N. Carolina, a daughter, Olivia Parker Williams, of Ft. Worth, TX, step daughter LeAnn Bush Covington, of Huntsville, AL.  Grandchildren LeShone Lankford (Yolanda) and Keon Parker of Huntsville, AL and Heaven Pryor of Nashville, TN.  Two sisters, Elizabeth Parker Fowlkes of Huntsville, AL., and Helen Parker Newell of Chicago, Ill.  Two brothers, Bobby Parker of Huntsville, AL., and William Parker of Hyattsville, Maryland.
