Jack Thomas Schrimsher Jack Thomas Schrimsher, aged 81, of Athens, passed away peacefully at his residence on Friday, June 27th, 2025. Born on May 25th, 1944, in Madison, Alabama, he was the son of Charlie D. Schrimsher and Sallie Bee Ennis Schrimsher.

Mr. Schrimsher leaves behind a loving family, including his devoted wife of 54 years, Rita Schrimsher. He is also survived by his sons: Chris Schrimsher, Eric Schrimsher, Wesley Schrimsher and his wife Jamie, and Justin Schrimsher. Additionally, he is survived by his brother, Charles Schrimsher, and sister, Ida Lee Lowery. He was a cherished grandfather to eight grandchildren and a great-grandfather to one great-grandson.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Sallie Schrimsher, as well as his siblings: sisters Mildred Phillips, Sarah Phillips, Jeffolene Jolly, Etoile Miller, and Francis Hays; and brother Frank Schrimsher.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, July 5th, 2025, at 12:30 PM at Legg Cemetery, with Matthew Baugher officiating. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Limestone Chapel Funeral Home. The pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Mr. Schrimsher’s first team, the 1973 West Limestone Football team.

Mr. Schrimsher was a beloved teacher in Limestone County for 35 years. He contributed his passion for sports and education through coaching at Piney Chapel, Owens, West Limestone, Ardmore, and East Limestone. His love for coaching was matched by the meaningful relationships he developed throughout his career.

He was an accomplished athlete himself, having made all-state in football and basketball at Tanner High School in 1962. He continued his athletic journey playing basketball at Athens State College, where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree.

Jack Schrimsher was deeply devoted to his family and his community. His influence and presence will be greatly missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in memory of Mr. Schrimsher to Hospice of Limestone County, reflecting his lifelong commitment to caring for others.
