Monica Cox, age 57, of Decatur, passed away on June 9, 2025 at UAB Hospital in Birmingham.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, June 12, 2025 at 1:00PM at the Chapel of Shelton Funeral Home with Bro. Scott Hogan officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00AM to 1:00PM prior to the service. A Burial will follow at Burningtree Memorial Gardens.
She was born June 26, 1967 to John Aldridge and Mary Sullivan Aldridge in Lawrence County.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Doug Cox, and a sister, Joyce Stanley.
She is survived by her sons; Griffin Cox (Alex), and Will Cox; her brother, Michael Aldridge (Sandy), and her sister, Susan Kirby (Rick); grandchildren; Charles and Andrew Cox, and a host of nieces, nephews and other loving family.
She worked 24 years for Decatur City Schools. She was a member for 30 plus years at Westmeade Baptist Church. She loved her grandchildren and educating children.
Pallbearers will be Nicky Hackett, John Aldridge, Casey Kirby, Austin Mabe, Shane Lucas, and Sam Dean.
