Mrs. Margaret Jo GarnerMargaret Jo Garner, age 98, peacefully entered into eternal rest on Thursday night, May 8th,
surrounded by the love of those who held her dearest. Margaret—affectionately known as
“Granny” to all who knew and loved her—leaves behind a legacy of warmth and wisdom.
She was preceded in death by many cherished loved ones who now welcome her at the gates
of heaven, including her son, CW Garner, her parents, Dee and Mattie Henry, her husbands,
GW Garner and Gordon Garner, her three brothers, Virgil, Gertis, and Gordon Henry, and her
sisters, Bertha Jackson, Pearlene Henry, and Evelynn King.
Granny is survived by one brother, Fred Henry, her sons Tommy Garner, Charles Garner,
Johnny Garner, and her daughter, Shirley Weigel. As well as a huge family, including 14 grand
kids, 23 great grand kids, and 15 great great grand kids. To all whose lives she touched, she
was more than a mother or grandmother—she was a guiding light, a storyteller, a nurturer, and
a steadfast friend.
A Funeral service to honor Granny’s life will be held Saturday, May 10th at 2:30pm at
Scottsboro Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest at Cedar Hill Cemetery. Visitation is 1:00pm to
2:30pm where friends and loved ones will gather to share memories and give thanks for the
blessing of her 98 remarkable years.
