FLORENCE-The Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts Volunteers are pleased to present the next program in their Art Adventure Series, “Kinetic Art”.  This presentation is scheduled for Sun., March 17th, 2-4:00 p.m. at the KDAC.  This new program series offers free art history presentations and hands-on activities that are designed for teens and adults.

Kinetic art takes many forms:  Mobiles that spin and twirl; mechanical sculptures that make complex moves; pieces that walk; or paintings that appear to rotate and vibrate. Join art educator, Elizabeth Renault and explore a variety of kinetic art forms as she highlights well-known artists who are renowned in the field of kinetic art.  Afterwards, join Barb Hendricks, long-time area art instructor, who will offer a hands-on activity, “Alexander Calder: Inventor of the Mobile”.  Don’t miss this opportunity to create your own mobile with an array of materials!

“Art Adventures” will be offered every third Sunday afternoon, January-April, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the KDAC.  For more information on scheduled topics, go to the KDAC website calendar florencealmuseums.com   The Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts is free and open to the public Monday – Friday from 9-4 and on Sundays from 1-4. The art center is located at 217 E. Tuscaloosa St. Florence, AL and can be reached by calling (256) 760-6379.
