Theodore Thomas Bledsoe, 92, of Huntsville, passed away after a long illness at Floyd E. ‘Tut’ Fann State Veterans Home. Ted was born in Huntsville, Alabama to the late Louis Adams Bledsoe and Bessie Lee Baker Bledsoe. Ted and his brothers, Lou and Ron grew up in Huntsville during trying economic times. Ted was a leader and an excellent athlete, both in basketball and football, at Huntsville High School. He was selected to go to ‘Boys State’ in Montgomery, was also president of his high school senior class and elected the most outstanding senior graduating in the class of 1949.

Ted attended Geogia Tech the fall of 1949 on the co-op plan with TCI in Birmingham, AL. In May 1954, he received his degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation, Ted married his college sweetheart, Ann Brown. Together they raised two children, Carolann and Scott. Soon after their wedding, he became at Lieutenant in the U.S. Army graduating from Microsoft school at Fort Monmouth, NJ June 1955. After his service in the army, he worked for DuPont Co. in Louisville, KY and then for GE in Binghamton, NY. Ted joined NASA in November 1960 working on the second stage of the Apollo program as a supervisor and later worked on the staff of the facilities office before retiring in 1991.

Ted was a member of the Sigma Chi fraternity along with both brothers. During his retirement, Ted served on the Vestry board and sang in the choir at the Church of the Nativity. He also enjoyed singing in the Huntsville Opera Theater. He loved running in the annual Big Spring marathon and tending to his large gardens at home in Jones Valley. At some point, he took up golf and enjoyed playing with his brothers and many other friends.

Survivors include his second wife, Adelene Kelly Hay Bledsoe; son, Scott (Abigail); daughter, Carolann; grandsons, Ben (Tanya) and Jeremy; brother, Ron (Marge); and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; older brother, Lou; and wife, Ann Brown Bledsoe.

Visitation will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Thursday, October 26, 2023, at the Episcopal Church of the Nativity, Huntsville, AL. A memorial service will follow at 12:00 p.m. at the church.

The family is deeply grateful for the loving care shown by the nurses and doctors at ‘Tut’ Fann Veterans Home.
