A Funeral Service for Mrs. Martha Jean Freeman, age 80 of Ashland, will be held on Friday, September 29, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at County Line Baptist Church with Bro. TC Brown and Deacon David Rush officiating. Burial will follow at McDaniel Cemetery.
Mrs. Freeman passed away on Sunday 24, 2023 at her home. She was a lifelong resident of Clay County having worked several different jobs in her life. Mrs. Freeman loved helping others and giving back to the community. She served at the local polling station, did census work and worked part time at the local thrift store where she made sure to provide birthday cakes for her coworkers. She loved to help others, loved her church and loved her family.
Mrs. Freeman is survived by her two daughters: Tina Willingham(Pete) of Cragford and Jeanene Gill(Randy) of Sylacauga; son, Brian Lee Freeman(Kathy) of Cragford; eight grandchildren: Randi Smith(Ilan), Briana Freeman(fiancé Jason Vickers), Ashley Bennett, Katie Cleveland(Travis), Austin Freeman, Sydney Bennett, Dustin Freeman and John Marshall Freeman; six great-grandchildren: Wyatt Gill, Miley Thrash, Whitt Smith, Teddie Smith, Tucker Cleveland and Lily Vickers; and other extended family a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Teddy Freeman and her parents, Howard and Bessie Myrl Hamil.
Ilan Smith, Travis Cleveland, Austin Freeman, Dustin Freeman, John Marshall Freeman and Wyatt Gill will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be the Church Members from County Line Baptist Church.
Visitation will be Thursday night from 5:30 until 8:00 at Benefield Funeral Home in Lineville. Mrs. Freeman will also lie in state at County Line Baptist Church one hour before the service.
