Mr. Morris Burton Seymour, age 86 of Scottsboro, Alabama passed peacefully on Sunday, February 19, 2023 at his home. Morris was born in Bowman, Ga. on December 13th 1936 to the late Horace Wilkes Seymour and the late Ollie Estelle Seymour.
Mr. Seymour was born, raised and graduated high school in the small town of Bowman, Ga. He later attended the University of Georgia to study art, but soon after decided to take a familiar family path of forestry where he had a healthy 40 year career spanning across the Southeast and finally retiring to spend time with grandchildren, traveling, and playing golf with his sons and friends.
He is preceded in death by four brothers; Tony, Roger, Zach and Kenneth, late wife of 48 years; Naomi Brown Seymour, son; Chris D. Seymour, granddaughter; Emily Joy Seymour.
He will be lovingly remembered by his current wife of fourteen years, Shelba Seymour; sister, Jane Coker and husband George of Carnesville, Ga., children; Dr. Morris B. Seymour M.D. of Huntsville, Donny Seymour and wife Lou of Scottsboro, Ray Seymour and wife Breona of Sterlington Louisiana, ten grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. He was step-parent to Shelba’s five children, ten grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 3 – 5 p.m. with 5 p.m. Funeral Service at Agape Baptist Church, Scottsboro, AL Tuesday, February 21, 2023, a second Visitation will be at the Pruitt Funeral Home, Royston, Ga., Thursday, February 23, 2023 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. with Graveside Service and Interment to follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, Bowman, Ga.
