Mr. Paul Edward Atkinson, 72 of Florence, passed away Sunday, March 3, 2013 at E.C.M. Hospital after an extended illness. He was a native and resident of Lauderdale County. Mr. Atkinson attended Rhodesville Baptist Church and also Cloverdale Methodist Church.
Visitation will be today, March 5, 2013 from 6-8 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at 2 p.m. in Pisgah United Methodist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. Officiating will be the Rev. Mike Stonebreaker. The casket will be placed inside the church one hour prior to service time.
Mr. Atkinson is preceded in death by his parents, James Bartley and Lucille Kelly Atkinson, two brothers, James and Bill Atkinson and a sister, Hazel Horton.
He is survived by two sons, Jerry Atkinson(Tammy) of Florence and James Atkinson(Jan) of Cloverdale, three grandchildren, Jheri Brooke, Tatlin Bradi, and Jalee Atkinson, and one great great grandchild, Grayson Montgomery Atkinson, two sisters, Ann Baskins(J.M.) of Cloverdale and Autry Kilpatrick(Dudley) of Woodstock, IL., brother, Ray Atkinson of South Bend IN., and a special nephew, Robert “Butch” Atkinson.
Pallbearers will be Joey Weston, Todd Givens, Johnny Simmons, Ernest May, James Hairell, and Nelson McDonald.
In lieu of flowers , memorials may be made to a charity of your choosing in Mr. Atkinson’s honor.
