G. Robert Nicholas, 73, Florence, died Friday, Feb. 22, 2013. Visitation will be 9:30 a.m.-11 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Florence. Funeral will follow at 11 a.m. with Father Andrew Sullivan officiating; interment at St. Michael’s Cemetery.
Bob was born in Boomer, W.Va, attending Montgomery High School and Wesleyan College in West Virginia, active in basketball and football. Retired from Reynolds Metals, Bob worked in the I.E. Department, spending the last 12 years as administrative manager. Bob served the community in numerous ways through his church, the J.C.’s, as well as the Shoals Chamber of Commerce. Following retirement, Bob became a member of the Shoals Chamber staff in 2004 as Relocation Marketing Coordinator and staff liaison with Crime Stoppers.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Margurite Nicholas and sister, Peggy Sizemore.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Patti Clegg Nicholas; son, Steven R. Nicholas and wife, Leslie, of Auburn; daughter, Terri Ann, of Florence; granddaughters, Alexandra, Molly and Lauren Nicholas; brother, Michael Nicholas, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Dr. Pons, Stacey, Dr. Lango, and the wonderful surgical staff at ECM Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, donation can be made to the St. Joseph’s Building Fund or the St. Joseph Scholarship Fund.
