Phyllis Ann Catalano Gibat, 74, of Huntsville, AL passed away Tuesday, April 12, 2022. Phyllis was born in San Bernardino, CA and graduated from St. Bernardine’s High School in 1965.

Phyllis gave 32 years of devoted service for Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Military Community on Redstone Arsenal as the Catholic Pastoral Coordinator from 1984 to 2016. After retirement, she continued volunteer work by serving as the Coordinator for the Good Samaritan Ministry and as a member of the Catholic Women of the Chapel.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Domenic and Mary Catalano. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, David M. Gibat; her children, Michael D. Gibat of Huntsville, AL; Patrick J. Gibat (Alanna) of Weaver, AL; and Jennifer M. Neal (Ryan) of Hazel Green, AL; four grandchildren, Alexia, Nathan (Dezi), Bella and Gunner; one great-granddaughter, Lindsey; sisters, Diana, Tina, and Maria; and brothers, Joe and Paul.

Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 13550 Chaney Thompson Rd. SE Huntsville, AL 35803 followed by Catholic Funeral Mass at 11:00 am. Inurnment following the service will be on the grounds at the Columbarium ending with a church luncheon.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Maryknoll and Food for the Poor.
