Mary Ruth Bendall Hovater, age 84, Tuscumbia, Ala., died at Helen Keller Hospital on Friday, Feb. 8, 2013. She was born on July 2, 1928, and was raised in the Waco Community in Franklin County, she also called Rockwood and Russellville home before moving to Tuscumbia.
The visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 10, 2013, at Akins Funeral Home, Russellville, Ala., prior to the 3 p.m. funeral service with Brother Stanley Hargett officiating. Interment will be in Knights of Pythias Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clifton; son, Danny; granddaughter, Heather May; parents, Wallace and Ruth Bendall; brother, John Wallace (Buddy) Bendall.
She leaves to miss her and to cherish her memory a daughter, Connie (Danny) Johnson; two granddaughters, Penelope (Eddie) Austin and LeKita Rice; five great-grandchildren, Stephen and Scott May, Daniel, LeTeashea and Zach Wilkinson; five wonderful brothers and sisters, Bobby (Rena) Bendall, Charles (Mary Lee) Bendall, Tommy (Sue) Bendall, Doris Dill and June (Jerome) Greene. Others who will remember her often in the days ahead are very special friend, Crystal Wilkerson; the Mt. Star Homemakers Club friends; extended Hovater family; adopted family of friends; and workers at Cottage of the Shoals (yes, they adopted her and she adopted them); and a lot of long time friends.
She was a member of Southside Baptist Church, Russellville, Ala.
Her family would like to thank everyone for “loving on her”.
